Great race 1000km Riga
The GREAT RIGA 1000km GRAND PRIX, and hour of Records. QUICK UPDATE!!!!!
So Friday night 9th SEPT qualification, all drivers very close in times be again we sent young gun mick out and he put the car 5th on the Grid! Just a sea of BMW in front, ooh and EVO behind!!!
SATURDAY morning hour of Records:
Both Drew and Mick set the record time in class ( Drew Grp N Cosworth- Mick MK1 escort) sadly for the DHR TEAM the fastest lap set time was to be broken shortly after by F1 car, oh well this was a great chance to get up and close with these amazing cars!!!
SO 1000km (in Brief) This was to turn out to be our best race so far and only the 2nd race in the MK1 escort. By 1/2 race distance we were up to 3rd overall, our car running awesome and lots of teams from top to bottom of the field having problems, but soon would come our turn. Our first fuel stop took us a little longer than we had hoped and then we had to change rubber, The Avons we have been running for first 4hours took a battering on the outside of the car and a switch to Michelin's that we had never run before in endurance saw us slowly slip down to 5th and the fact KS motorsport with the awesome BMW got back out of the garage after 5th gear broke and made a push for the win! (Really was great to see a top team in action, lots to be learnt) After losing a few places we now had a strong fight for 1st in class, this made a exciting last session and had it not been for tyre ware I'm sure we would have too the place. There would be loads more to write and sure Dave will, BUT 5th overall was really amazing in our first run there in Latvia!!!!
We would also like to say a BIG thank You to every one up in Riga we had a blast and hope we can come back next year!!!!!!
